JESUS LOVES YOU

Jesus Loves You

My niece, Jacquelyn, has two little girls. Her youngest, Margaret, is 4 years old. As her mommy was putting her to bed one night, Margaret asked her a question, Mommy, do you think that Santa knows that Jesus loves him? My niece assured her that Santa knew that Jesus loved him.

Now as adults, you and I understand that Santa Claus is not a real person. But, to little Margaret, Santa is a not only a real person, but he is a person who needs to know that Jesus loves him.

Perhaps this holiday season, you are battling cancer, in the midst of a stressful relationship, experiencing the loss of a loved one, fighting to stay afloat financially, or struggling with depression, and you can’t understand how Jesus could allow such difficult circumstances if He truly loves you.

I want to assure you that He does love you because He has not left you alone in your difficult circumstances. I journeyed with my husband through eleven years of a rare neurological condition,  Multiple Systems Atrophy. In those first months, I struggled to understand how a loving God could allow such pain.

But over time, I came to understand that the incredible depth of His love is often found in the midst of hardship. His love was more real and more present in those days of suffering and difficulty than in any day prior to Mark’s diagnosis.

This Christmas, you may be struggling with the question, “Does Jesus love me?” The answer to your question is really quite simple and it is found in God’s Word. In John 3:16 it says, For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son. God gave his Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life, John 3:16 ICB.

God loved you so much that He willingly sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to the earth to live and die. Jesus’ death was an agonizing death because He carried the weight of all our sins to the cross. He shed His very own blood as a covering for our sins. This is how you can know that He loves you—He sacrificed His Son that you might have eternal life, that you might have a Redeemer, a Savior, a Comforter in the midst of pain, a Constant Companion in difficult times, a Way Maker when there seems to be no way.

The little baby, Jesus, born in a stable, God’s Son, is His gift of love sent for you and me. Does Jesus love you? Yes He does!

Christmas Blessings!
